Along the panoramic road past the Merano winery via Marling to Forst, the largest brewery in Italy. We cycle slightly uphill to the entrance to the Vinschgau Valley, the Töll. Passing the impressive hydroelectric power station, we cycle over the "little Stelvio Pass" to Algund. On the way to Merano, we have a wonderful view of the three imposing castles ‘Schloss Tirol’, ‘Brunnenburg’ and ‘Thurnstein’; the short ascent to Tirol is crisp, but not long. We cross the Finele Valley to Kuens on the Tirolersteig trail, including views of some earth pyramids.
We continue along the little-used road to the Passeier valley cycle path and out of the valley through the Sissipark to Merano. We cycle along cycle paths to see the most beautiful parts of the city and then cycle past the huge racecourse via Tscherms back to Lana.
